Cinecicleta – Guided bike tour to the hot spots and hidden locations of movies that where shot in Barcelona
Nobody questions the fact that Barcelona is a movie city. The Catalan capital has been the backdrop for countless films. This tour will take you to the locations where many films were shot, among them Woody Allen’s „Vicky Cristina Barcelona“, Pedro Almodóvar’s „All About My Mother“, the Erasmus comedy „L’Auberge Espagnole“ and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s „Biutiful“. The tour will also give you the opportunity to explore the darkest side of the Gothic Quarter through classic Spanish horror films by Jess Franco. Did you know that Orson Welles’ underestimated classic „Falstaff“ (aka „Chimes at Midnight“) was shot in Barcelona? Or that Jackie Chan’s kung fu comedy „Wheels on Meals“ was shot at the Sagrada Familia? You will also follow the tracks of our guide’s favorite Spanish movie „Los Tarantos“ with the amazing flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya which will lead you to Barceloneta’s beach.
Then we are going to visit the audiovisual art center CCCB, some iconic cinemas of the 1950s and also the alternative, local cinema – Filmoteca de Catalunya. Last but not least we will have a drink and tapas at a typical tapas bar downtown. The tour will be guided by our cinema expert and tour guide Jan Fangmeier, a former operator of the 3001-Kino in Hamburg, as well as a founder and programmer of numerous Film Festivals, who also worked as a film distributor and for the Metropolis Cinema in Hamburg.
